Women in Finance Charter

HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter is a commitment to improve gender balance across the financial services sector, at every level. The Charter commits firms to supporting the progression of women into senior roles in the financial services sector. It requires firms to publicly report on progress against targets to support this progression.

By signing up, organisations pledge to promote gender diversity by:

  • Having one member of our senior executive team who is responsible and accountable for gender diversity and inclusion;
  • Setting internal targets for gender diversity in senior management;
  • Publishing progress annually against these targets in reports on our website;
  • Having an intention to ensure the pay of the senior executive team is linked to delivery against these internal targets on gender diversity.

Our vision and commitment

The Women in Finance Charter is focused on gender diversity, but our ambitions are much bigger.  Many of the Charter’s recommendations are about fairness, equality and inclusion for everyone.

We want to make more possible by developing actions and initiatives that improve diversity and create a truly inclusive workplace community. At Aldermore, opportunities for development and progression are accessible to all and respect is central to our culture.

What we're doing

We’re fully committed to making a difference, to building a culture that makes Aldermore an even better place, where we can make more possible together.

So, what are we doing to achieve this?

Building female representation

As of June 2024, we women making up 38% of senior management positions. Female representation on the executive committee has risen to 25%, and on the Board to 28%.

Mentorship and sponsorship

We’re now in the fourth year of our partnership with the 30% Club, a mentoring programme that supports efforts to increase females in leadership. It empowers women to build skills and confidence, accelerating their career progression.

Celebrating women’s achievements

Our Women’s Network hosted an internal ‘Women of the Year’ awards, recognising and celebrating the contributions of female colleagues and male allies. We are also proud sponsors of the Women of the Year awards in the UK.

Supporting work-life balance

To support employees and their wellbeing, we are committed to ongoing initiatives such as events for returning new parents, and menopause awareness.

You can read more about our diversity and inclusion efforts in our Report to Society.
